Last Thursday evening, The Valley hosted a full room for Seedlings To Sales, a special conversation with the Eriksen family, the force behind Coral’s Corner and Cones. What began as a small front-yard side hustle has flourished into one of Cambridge’s most beloved local businesses, known for its flowers, ice cream, and welcoming community spirit.
The event drew over twenty locals, entrepreneurs, neighbors, and curious residents, all eager to hear how the Eriksen’s turned a small idea into something that now blooms annually.
Throughout the event the Eriksen’s dropped a few notable statements and takeaways which I’d like to share:
“If we do something that we enjoy most of the time that really gives us joy and pleasure, then is it really work?”
– Trish Eriksen
Trish shared how the family found fulfillment in what they do, even through some days come with long hours and unexpected challenges. For them, running Coral’s Corner has never felt like “just work”, it’s been about creating something joyful and shared.
“You’re going to be the one that takes the punches… and you’re also going to be the one that gets the goodies.”
– Dave Eriksen
Dave offered a grounded take on entrepreneurship. Small business ownership means weathering the tough days and celebrating the sweet ones. His honesty landed with anyone in the room who’s tried to build something of their own.
“The community has been absolutely overwhelming. The support, we’ve got. No questions about it.”
– The Eriksen Family
Community was a running theme throughout the evening. From their first customers to the friends who shop regularly, the Eriksens credited Cambridge’s people for their growth.
“I think the one big thing for us is always staying positive.”
– Coral Eriksen
Coral summed it up simply: positivity is what helps their family business grow through each new season.
The takeaway:
The Eriksens didn’t just share a business story, rather they shared a mindset. Start small. Stay positive. Work hard. And the results will follow.
